PATRICK MENDES

Patrick Mendes was born in Rhône (France) in 1981, where he lived until he was five, the age at which he came to Portugal.

After finishing secondary education, he attended (in 2000) the first year of the higher education course in Anthropology at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences. In 2001, he entered the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, finishing in 2005.

While completing his studies in the field of editing and directing, Patrick Mendes began working with Pedro Costa, in the film 'Juventude em Marcha' (2006). Among other directors with whom he has already collaborated, stand out F. J. Ossang, João Canijo, Miguel Gomes, Werner Schroeter, Eugène Green and João Nicolau. In 2011, at the invitation of the Instituto do Cinema e do Audiovisual (ICA), Patrick Mendes attended the program 'A Sunday In The Country', organized by the European Film Academy, together with Instytut Rozbitek and the PolishFilmInstitute. Nowadays, Patrick Mendes works as an assistant director and at the same time writes, produces and directs experimental short films.
